Studying English in the UK isn’t only about lessons and homework, we also have an amazing social programme you can take part in. Each week we may have a coffee morning where you chat with teachers, excursions you can go on or suggestions of things to do in or around Hastings with your classmates. It changes every week and there’s always lots to do and see. Last week, our students played table tennis at a table tennis club, one of our students Miki has written a few words about his experience.
Playing table tennis was a school activity in one evening. One of our teachers, Bashar, invited us to his ping pong club. We went to a gymnasium where we could have 10 tables and there were other club members who welcomed us to the club and to play with them. We changed our clothes for the sport and for the first moment I felt a bit chilly but soon I was sweating when we started the game. There were some senor members who was instructor for beginners so all of us could enjoy with similar level people. I enjoyed very much with forgetting time. While we were playing we don’t need to mind our language and playing with English people, of course with others as well. However, I personally learned some words for the sport such as ‘smash’ and ‘rally’. The evening was so refreshing. I could really enjoy table tennis even though I’m not good at English! 😆
It certainly sounds like you all had fun with the table tennis club I do hope you will all play again soon. Who knows? We may have an international champion in our school!
