No, I’m not talking about Charlie Lovett’s novel, I’m talking about what happens when you choose to change country, and make the crazy decision of living abroad. Nobody really tells you about what happens when you go beyond the New Year resolutions and you actually start to act towards your goal.
Something we all do before going abroad is searching on google tips and opinions from people who did it before.
The first time I heard about a culture shock it was from a girl on Youtube who went to Spain and realized that her habits were considered rude from her step-relatives, she felt alone and started having a rough time living in an open and expansive culture as is the Spanish one.
This is something that doesn’t happen to everybody, but everyone has their own way of reacting to different experiences.
Of course some of the things you could do to avoid a culture shock, are to have a positive attitude towards the others and choose the right school for you. I can assure you that a school full of lively people and the right host family will make your experience more enjoyable and unforgettable!
But since you’re here, reading this post, you may be thinking of studying in Shane Global Hastings, I’ll tell you about this school and how much I’ve learned.
Since I came here, believe it or not, my level of English has increased, I became aware of some mistakes I was making (I’m still trying to fix some of them by the way) and I started to understand how the English culture works. At first I was amazed about how original and different the English humor is.
Going to class is a joy every day, and talking to different people that came from other countries it always a new experience. Studying at Shane Global is an opportunity to always have new people around, to get to know the world without moving from Hastings, to learn more about yourself and others.
If you’re curious to know more about the school don’t hesitate to call or email!
