There a so many different things to experience when studying overseas. One of our students, Ferdinand Van Run, from Brazil and The Netherlands, has written a few words about his time at school and gives some great advice to getting the most out of your time at school.
Study abroad could be a big challenge and a greatest experience in your life if you are open to enjoy all opportunities and ready to learn about other culture. Hastings is a perfect place to make friends, study English, learn about history, relax, have a good contact with nature and enjoy evenings in a great pub. In a lovely town and very well situated location, [Shane UK] provide for your students a perfect environment to exchange knowledge and experiences by smaller classes. Which enable the students to work in group, preparing themselves for socialization and insertion of the British society.
[Shane UK] has a lot of programs of extra activities, such as trips to another cities and countries, what is a perfect occasion to meet new people and create a good network with new friends in world wide. Events such as “International Meeting” organized by local people is a really important experience that I also recommend everyone to have, because that create the opportunity to make friends from others schools and local people. What helps to develop the speaking and listening skills by practice with different persons and accents. Furthermore, learn about culture, local histories, politics, British expressions, etc.
I could learn a lot at school and prepare myself for the IELTZ exam, what gave me support to be well qualified to start my Master degree in Holland. The infrastructure and the teachers are well prepared to receive and give all support for students from all the world, creating opportunity for the students to develop their knowledge and skills.
Hastings is a cozy town with definitely beautiful places from nature until pubs and restaurants, especially during the summer time. Where the stone beach create a perfect environment to relax after a busy day of study and is a good place to reflex and recharge the energies for another day while you watch a lovely sun set. If you were a nature lover like me, you should visit places such as Alexander Park and The Old Roar Gill, but the best place to see the sun set it’s definitely the West Hill next the Castle.
However, the nights in Hastings are also a big opportunity to learn more about culture and history if you like to go to places like pubs. The best places that you must to visit are two places at least. The fist pub is Ye Old Pump House, where is a really special building, very old and cozy, localized in the old town. Secondly, The Stag Inn, that’s an Irish Pub where they have live music every Tuesday, what is amazing, energetic and one exceptional experience which you will remember forever.
To conclude, I had a really perfect time at this brilliant town and lovely school, with rich experiences full of culture, knowledge, history, friends, memories which will stay in my mind for the rest of my life. Because Hastings is a town on the coast, not far from London and with historical places, they have a big circle cosmopolitan which make all difference in association with the lectures where the school give to you all preparation that you need to create your own network and social contact.
In other hand, everything depends of you, you are the captain of your life and decisions bring you where you need to be. Then make decisions and don’t stay stopped, just floating in your mind.
Well, that certainly is full of very good advice. Thank you so much for sharing your feelings about your time here at Shane English School UK, Hastings, and for allowing me to post some of your fabulous photographs. I know we have all enjoyed having you here.
